Australia's authorities have suspended the search for a four-year-old child who has been disappeared in the outback for nearly three weeks, after renewed operations proved unsuccessful to discover any evidence of the boy.

Chronology of Incidents

Gus Lamont was spotted playing near his family property on a isolated rural property in the vicinity of Yunta, about 300km from Adelaide, on September 27th.

His grandmother stepped away for about half an hour before returning, only to find the boy nowhere to be found, triggering one of the biggest ground and aerial missions in local past.

Present Situation

Authorities - who do not believe foul play - say they will carry on examining, but that the case has become a "recovery mission".

Recently, police temporarily scaled back the search, only to restart it on this week alongside 80 defense staff.

"Official Grant Stevens said officials were looking a more extensive region based on new analyses from survivability and operation specialists, rather than any recent developments."

Mission Challenges

On recently, police announced that the recent operation had not discovered any signs of Gus.

"The reality that the young boy is a little boy, the terrain is particularly rugged, unforgiving and subject to changing elements has made the operation demanding and more challenging for those participating," officials said in a statement.
