I can't bank on three years at Manchester United - Ruben Amorim

Manchester United head coach

Ruben Amorim - seen receiving consolation post May's continental cup disappointment - states he is happy by the co-owner's continued commitment but stressed that what lies ahead is unknown in soccer.

Manchester United head coach the Portuguese coach thinks it is important the investor publicly shared his long-term thoughts - but says nothing is certain about the future in the sport, let alone three years.

Through a conversation with The Times in recent days, Ratcliffe said it could take the manager three seasons to produce meaningful results at the Theatre of Dreams.

Arriving during a time when the coach's tenure has been receiving close inspection in the wake of a lengthy stretch of disappointing results, the words contributed to reducing some of the immediate pressure.

Yet, discussing prior to the hundredth encounter with old rivals the Merseyside club at Anfield, the manager emphasized how what comes next is challenging to anticipate in football.

"It is really good to hear it but he tells me all the time, occasionally through communication after games - but understand, I know and Ratcliffe understands, that football is not like that," he said.

"The crucial element is the next game. Even with owners, you cannot dictate the future in the sport."

Chief executive Berrada has conceded it has required significantly extended periods for Amorim to adapt to the top division following his move from his former club during the winter than anybody anticipated.

Manchester United have achieved 10 times in 34 top-flight fixtures with the Portuguese coach. They haven't managed consecutive league victories and didn't complete a round of league games during this campaign higher than ninth.

The dire statistics are challenging confidence in the head coach among the United fanbase heading into a sequence of matches their club has been awful in for the previous two campaigns.

United's boss commented he isn't experiencing the doubt within the organization at their training facility and is firm nothing equals the stress he puts on his players - and in certain ways, he would choose the co-owner to refrain from seeking to establish serenity because he is concerned about the impact it could have on the team.

"It isn't merely an item of conversation, I sense it each day," he stated. "It's truly positive to listen to it because it benefits our followers to understand the leadership realize it needs a while.

"But at the same moment, I don't like it because it gives a feeling that we have time to solve problems. I don't wish for that sense in our organization.

"The expectation I put on the squad or to myself is significantly greater [compared to external sources]. In soccer, particularly at major teams, you have to show your value every weekend."
