Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

We already knew that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. However, if gamers will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile the patriarch built himself in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Rather, fans will obtain the Simpsons' standard well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic element of the series. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the identical collision model as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the only customization item from the show coming to the game. The event will also include a series of objectives to unlock more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a press release, the missions will task players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the complete list of earnable items isn't yet disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it appears fans will also receive rims with a television showing the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which includes a completely new map of the fictional town, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event begins on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
