Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Classic Games
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will feature once again of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has three new games publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
